Your phone is providing information about your whereabouts without your knowledge.

Do you know that cell phones you use do more things than daily stuff like calls, surf the internet, sending emails, photos, videos etc. Now a day all smart phones come with a built in program which keeps track of you wherever you go. Cell phones constantly send signals about your location, it does this by pinging nearby cell-phone towers every few seconds so that it can send receive calls, what it in turn does is telling company owning the tower your current location at that time.

Smart phones having GPS provide more accurate data which can pinpoint exact location of yours to an accuracy of few meters. In the name of improving services, Federal communications Commission by 2012 has set a benchmark for all phone companies to provide as close information about caller’s location.

About 90% of Americans are using phone devices having tracking system and they have very little clue of this.

This data tracked and collected is extremely useful for law enforcement to prove that suspect was new crime scene or not where he claimed to be. Some people feel this as a breach of privacy thus has raised their voice to enforce a rule so that government will need a warrant to get access to the tracked data.
